Nyamuk Dimakan Pisang

Hii! It has been a long time since I updated my life on this blog, hasn't it? Well, if you bother to count my age (which I have stated a few times in previous years), I'm currently at the age when teens prepare and take their university entrance exams, which is called SBMPTN in Indonesia. Thus, I didn't really have a lot of  activities other than studying and watching lots of videos for my study breaks. I took the test in April and the SBMPTN results were released last week! I'm extremely glad to say that I  got accepted into one of my dream universities but.... I won't give you any details as that's a story for another day :) This week, I only want to share a GIF I made for fun when I was tired with all the SBMPTN preparations.

If you dear readers didn't know, I have a special needs older sister. She likes to talk about her favourite songs and words that she heard over the years, but due to her disability, some words get jumbled up. In the last few weeks, my sister kept on saying "nyamuk dimakan pisang", which confused us immensely. If we translate the phrase to English, it means that a mosquito (nyamuk) is eaten by (dimakan) a banana (pisang). Now we all know that bananas are producers in the food chain, so where could she have heard this illogical yet funny phrase?  After some thinking, my family figured out that she actually wanted to say "nyamuk dimakan cicak", which means that a mosquito is eaten by a gecko (cicak). However, I think she misheard the words "cicak" and "pisang" as they sound similar. This phrase still sticks to my mind to this day and this results in:

In an alternate reality: Mr. Banana here is a type of carnivorous fruit which acts very much like a carnivorous plant. Unlike the plants, Mr. Banana only eats mosquitos and doesn't produce scents to attract them. Instead, he just sits and waits with his mouth open with the hopes that a stray mosquito will land on his mouth. Once a mosquito is at his vermilion border, he will snap his mouth shut and gobble it up! His love for mosquito and lack of scent makes him the perfect choice as a home decoration and mosquitocide! (Is there even a word like that)?

I'm really sorry for jumping around from one topic to another in this post as this is just a really quick and fun post. Next week, I will talk about my SBMPTN preparations and results which will be a much more serious post.
